Traer's United Presbyterian Church to host Ben Glenn

Creator, teacher and performer Ben Glenn has traveled throughout Australia, China and the U.S., giving presentations and displaying art talents.

He loves his work, and blames Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder for opening up a new world to him and others.

Glenn, of Indianapolis, Ind., will be bringing his unique story and displaying his talents at 7 p.m., Nov. 7, at the North Tama Junior/Senior High School gym.

The event is open to the public.

Overcoming the disorder, and attacking misunderstandings and myths associated with it are part of Glenn's action-packed program. He is one of 8 million American adults living with ADHD.

Attention deficit/hyper-activity disorder is a chronic addition that affects millions of children and often persist into adulthood. Difficulty sustaining attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior are symptoms, according to mayoclinic.com.

Glenn, was diagnosed with dyslexia and other learning disabilities in grade school and ADHD as an adult. He researched ADHD and quickly turned a liability into an asset.

He dropped out of college to pursue his passion full-time, which has developed into a career as a public speaker and performance artist.

Glenn has spoken to thousands of people worldwide while sharing his artistic talents in his 17-year career.

He wrote "Simply Special, Learning to Love your ADHD, in 2007 and maintains an ADHD-related blog, sharing his insights and information about the condition and encouraging those afflicted to maintain a positive, pro-active attitude.

Glenn will be speaking to North Tama students prior to his evening performance.
